[Article] - Lambiel radiation risk

The Swiss Stéphane Lambiel, double World Figure Skater Champion, will participate in a contest-show on American television which might lead to his exclusion of the official competitions, said Monday one of his agents.

"It's a good show, it's a great competition so he wanted to do that," old AFP Marc Lindegger, one of the officers of Swiss Skater aged 24, 4th at the Olympic Games Vancouver in February where he had gone out of retirement a year and half.

Contacted by AFP, the International Skating Union (ISU) said that their rules exclude skaters that go into another activities and competitions in such cases.

"I think they are doing it for two years but it's ISU who decides", said Lindegger.

"This is a decision from the heart" which "has nothing to do" with his result at the Winter Games, has also assured Mr. Lindegger, also director of communications for a skating show in Switzerland, Art On Ice, which also involved Lambiel.

Stéphane Lambiel will skate with the Japanese Shizuka Arakawa, Olympic Champion in 2006 at Thin Ice, broadcasted by U.S. Network ABC on 19 and March 21, said Lindegger.

Five couples, ten renowned skaters, they must compete for the first place, rewarded with a price of $ 60,000. Their performance is evaluated by a panel of former professional skaters and the public, entitled to vote.

Lambiel won two World Titles in 2005 Moscow and 2006 in Calgary, a silver medal at Turin Games 2006 and a 3rd place at the Worlds 2007 in Tokyo. He was also three times vice champion of Europe in 2006, 2008 and 2010.
